DEEPEN YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Yoga Asanas

Yoga Asanas are steady postures which should be held for a certain amount of time to derive the maximum benefit.  Asanas are part of the system called Hatha Yoga.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the physical practice of yoga which focuses first on the asana practice.  Hatha yoga is part of the integral system of Raja yoga and focuses on the subtle energy flow in the body known as prana.

Raja Yoga

Raja Yoga is the Royal path of yoga consisting of 8 steps.  The first steps are the moral foundations for the yoga practice followed by asana, pranayama, sense withdrawl, concentration, and culminating with meditation and samadhi.

Hatha Yoga Sadhana

This Hatha Yoga Sadhana Course is a seven day program to help prepare students for the full two week Sadhana Intensive course which was devised by Swami Vishnudevananda based on his own hatha yoga sadhana in the Himalayas. He said that six months of this intensive practice gave him the energy to carry out his mission of spreading the teachings of yoga in the West for next 40 years.  This course combines both group practice and individual self-practice divided into two or three sessions per day. The emphasis is on intense and prolonged pranayama. Students work towards three to four hours of pranayama per day.
