Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to relative insulin deficiency or resistance or both. 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, but 8.1 million may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition. The successful management of diabetes revolves around an individually tailored nutritional and lifestyle plan, regular Yoga exercise, breathing exercises and meditation.

Arrival and Departure
Arrival: The course will begin at 7pm on the first Date of the course with an Ashram Orientation followed by Satsang at 8pm.
Departure: The course will conclude at 3pm on the Final date.
We encourage you to arrive by 4pm on Day 1, making the most out of the afternoon by joining us for the Asana class and dinner. You are always welcome and encouraged to extend your stay to any length before or after the course. Please indicate your desired arrival and departure dates on your registration form.

Dr. Stephen Lewis, MD
Dr. Stephen B. Lewis opened his offices in Concord, California in 1993 after retiring from a twenty year career with the United States Navy as a Captain with Top Secret Security Clearance status. Dr. Lewis graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1962, with a B.A. in Zoology and from the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO. in 1966 with a M.D. Since 1995 Dr. Lewis has been a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Mary Thompson, C.A.S., P.K.S., (Ayurvedacharya), is a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda and senior teacher with certifications as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Pancha Karma Specialist. Mary is a graduate of the first graduating class of the College in 1997. In 2008 she received the Charaka Award for Excellence in Ayurvedic Teaching and was given the title "Ayurvedacharya" (respected teacher of Ayurveda) by Dr. Halpern. She has been an invited speaker at several Ayurvedic conferences and is a founding member and former Secretary of the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine. She is also the founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization, Everyday Ayurveda. Mary is in private practice in Grass Valley, California.
Karuna Devi is a teacher of Classical Yoga, a student of Ayurveda, a practitioner of the four paths of yoga, and a dedicated student of Swami Sitaramananda and the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda. Bringing a brightness and sincerity to the teaching of Classical Yoga, Karuna Devi is dedicated to helping students create a firm foundation on which to build a successful yoga practice.
