I was here at the ashram for 2 days and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. It was a very spiritual and energetic experience. Each and every member of the ashram are very helpful, knowledgeable and caring. I would most definitely recommend and would visit here often myself. The schedule designed was followed precisely. It was a treat for body, mind and spirit. Had a quality time over here.

Video on Ayurveda and Yoga

This video by David Fawley explains clearly what the relationship between ayurveda and yoga is.

Dr. David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri) is the recent recipient of the Padma Bhushan award in India.  The second highest award anyone can receive.  He is the author of more than thirty books on Vedic subjects published in twenty languages over the last thirty years, including original translations from the Vedas and authoritative texts on Yoga, Vedanta, Ayurveda, and Vedic astrology.

Ayurveda Courses

Ayurveda Courses at the Sivananda Yoga Farm helps you to find your True Nature as Spirit and help you to control the mind and lead a happy and healthy life.  Ayurveda is the science of life, and goes deeper into prescribing life regimens, food and diet, herbs, and an understanding of our specific mental and physical propensities, or constitution. By bringing into balance the 5 elements in the body and mind we regain health.

Health is Wealth

Health is a law of nature. It is our natural birthright. Ayurveda and Yoga, the ancient sciences of medicine and right living, declare the origin of disease comes from three flaws: forgetting our True Nature as Spirit, the misuse of intellect, and excessive movement of the mind.

Ayurveda and Yoga

Ayurveda and Yoga are sister sciences and they work directly with the flow of prana (energy, life force) and remove the blockages in our energy channels.  Yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises) help purifying the energy body and bring about vitality.  Ayurveda and Yoga is the most important preventative system of medicine. Ayurveda and Yoga calms the mind and breath, helps us to not identify too much with the drama of life which generates emotions such as fear or anger, and helps us to conserve energy and elongate lifespan.

Constitutional Assesment

Your inner nature is called your constitution or prakruti.  They are referred to as doshas. These three doshas govern our physical characteristics, physiological functions and psychological tendencies.  When the doshas are out of balance, disease occurs. When we live according to our constituition and in harmony with the rhythm of Nature we become healthy and balanced and can live up to our highest potential.

Use this Common Imbalance Form to help assess your health.
