Description

As stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, medical overwhelm, political conflicts, economical wars, and ethical degeneration plague mankind and our societies nowadays, we need to be much decisive and stronger in methods of self healing, techniques of self regeneration, stress management, and emotional and mental coping mechanism and renewal of consciousness.

Jyotish, as a tool to decipher karma, becomes essential for all to succeed during these challenging times. Ayurveda, is more and more needed as a healing science, and classical Yoga therapy, is a new emerging science to be more known.

Identifying Mental Health Issues in the Vedic Chart
Bill Sinclair
Using the fundamental principles of Vedic astrology, we will conduct a case review of prominent people who have been diagnosed with mental illness and addiction issues. We will identify common astrological signatures related to depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and addiction. We will also explore ways to approach these topics with clients from a strength-based perspective.

Understanding One’s Nature (Prakriti) and its Disturbance (Vikriti) from the Vedic Astrological Chart

When one is out of balance, one starts to become ill. The imbalance is called Vikriti in Ayurveda while one’s natural state is called Prakriti. The natural state may be fiery, windy, etc. but this is not a problem until imbalance starts. Even good doctors can find it difficult to distinguish between Prakriti and Vikriti but to properly understand the patient, it helps to distinguish these. Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) can help us understand Prakriti and Vikriti along with the timing – when problems will arise and when they will tend to subside. In this workshop, we will study these topics along with an approach to remedies using traditional and simple Jyotish mantras specific to the chart.

However, the true power of Jyotish emerges when the practitioner can provide information in a way that enables the client’s preparation for and recovery from obstacles and challenges. In this class, we will explore therapeutic perspectives based on the ideas of a strength-based approach, wellness, recovery orientation and harm-reduction. We will use example charts to develop language that can enlighten the lives of our clients.
